Tyldesley Brass Band
On behalf of Tyldesley Brass Band, I would like to extend an enormous thank you yourself and the committee of The Bent and Bongs Charitable Trust for your very generous donation to us.
As mentioned in 2024, we found ourselves having our best year in our history by earning 2nd place at the North West Area competition and therefore earning a place at the UK finals. We attracted a few younger players to the band, and were able to supply instruments and tutoring later that year. Then in Feb 2025 we went to the same area competition and won 1st prize which truly shocked us, as well as being invited again to the UK finals.
Every trip to these competitions costs money and your donation meant the world to us.
Last week we went to the 2026 area competition which was held in the same place at Winter Gardens, Blackpool. After our previous run of 2nd and 1st, we were truly amazed to get another 2nd prize out of 17 bands, and another invitation to the UK finals in York.
The rankings of the Brass Band world are calculated on a 3 year points system, and we are now delighted to hear that we have been promoted into the Championship section. We will be playing next year along side the ranks of the worlds most famous brass bands such as Brighouse, Grimethorpe, Black Dyke, Faireys.
For a small town band with no major sponsor, or old colliery charity behind it, this is truly amazing. Thanks to yourselves, we have made history. Indeed, no other 1st section band has been to the finals 3 years running. We cannot thank you enough for your help in this, this will benefit many youngsters in the local area as we are now in a position to offer more tutoring and instruments. We will certainly try to do our local area proud in the top section, and would like to offer ourselves for any future beer bash events you hold to aid in your own charity work.
